  Carla Vartanian

Dear Visitors and Friends,

Welcome to my home page…

I am a Clinical Dietitian, specialized in enteral and parenteral nutrition, based in Beirut, Lebanon. Currently working as a head dietitian/internship director  in a hospital and teaching  major nutrition courses for B.S. students majoring in Nutrition & Dietetics. I also consult in my private clinic for weight gain/loss and different diet therapies.

I have currently my own nutrition talk show on TV, in addition of being a regular spokesperson on a Lebanese Radio Station and a contributor to many nutrition articles in Lebanese/Middle Eastern magazines and journals, as well as a frequent guest on many Lebanese TV stations as a health nutritionist consultant.

I am a member of the Lebanese Dietetic Association in addition to many other international nutrition & dietetics associations and a regular lecturer in many Lebanese schools and non-profit organizations about  healthy eating and nutrition.
I agree that we are daily bombarded with too much conflicting health/nutrition and weight loss information which sometimes lead us to the wrong conclusions and choices of foods. This particular point, motivated me to establish this website in order to promote greater awareness among the general population about nutrition and its health related issues in addition to providing greater support to  all  my clients, students and trainees who believe in me.

Throughout my professional career, I always believed that a good weight loss program promotes a healthy diet, a healthy weight loss and most importantly a lifelong weight maintenance.

My home page's main purpose is to provide information on effective  weight loss and diet therapies to many metabolic diseases, in addition to the latest researches, innovations and developments in the field of nutrition  and dietetics with the aim of educating and teaching people how to understand and interpret nutritional information and plan a healthier diet for themselves.

Last but not least I would always like you to remember two major points that in my opinion were and will always be the basis of your healthy lifestyle:

·It's never too late to break your old habits and break in some healthy new ones

·It's never too late to improve your health and prevent illness

If you have any questions, need more  information about nutrition and healthy eating patterns or want to book a conference please don’t hesitate to contact me.

                                                                                       Best Regards, Carla

“ Pocket Guide to Low Sodium Foods”

Did you know that most of us are unaware of how much salt we take in? As Mostyn, the author of this book, states it, “People think that if they don’t use the saltshaker, they are not consuming a lot of salt”. Know for a fact that the salt shaker contributes to about a quarter of the salt you consume in a day, the rest of which comes from supermarket shelves in the form of canned,  packaged and processed foods.
For those of you watching their salt intake, this practical book can save the day! It is a quick reference with over 3 000 alternatives to salty food. In addition to the sodium content of the foods, it also includes calories, fats, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fiber and sugar for each item.

“The Lactose Free Family Cookbook”

• Being lactose intolerant does not mean that you are limited with delicious recipes which you can enjoy with your friends and family or even have to worry about your calcium intake. “The lactose Free Family Cookbook” offers you alternative ways to increase your calcium intake without worrying about cheese. Jan main, the author of this book, opens your eyes to what kinds of foods provide the greatest sources of calcium after giving you an in depth definition of what lactose intolerance really is.
• The recipes she provides are easy to handle even if you have not got much experience in cooking. If you are a fan of pasta and have no problem with gluten foods, many recipes include chopped vegetables, pasta and a variety of sauces, as well as salads.

  Carla's Tip of the Day!

If you are worried about cholesterol, add some SOY to your diet since it was shown to boost omega-3 fatty acids levels and strenghten the immune system as well as reducing the blood cholesterol levels!
